Pocket Financial
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms“) govern your use of Pocket Financial’s mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the “Services“).
Pocket Financial (the “Product”) is distributed and operated by Bright Learning Lab, Inc. (“Bright Learning Lab”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).
By downloading, accessing, or using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
1. Definitions
- “Bright Learning Lab”, “we”, “us”, “our”: Bright Learning Lab, Inc.
- “Pocket Financial” or “Product”: the Pocket Financial application and related services distributed by Bright Learning Lab.
- “User”, “you”: any individual using the Services.
- “Account”: your registered Pocket Financial user profile.
- “Content”: text, data, images, and other materials available through the Services.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least the age of majority in your province/territory or have valid parental/guardian consent where required.
You represent that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
3. Services Description
Pocket Financial provides financial wellness tools such as budgeting features, categorization, reporting, and educational insights.
Not a Bank: Bright Learning Lab is not a bank, credit union, lender, broker, or financial institution.
No Financial Advice: The Services are provided for informational and educational purposes only and do not constitute legal, tax, accounting, or financial advice.
4. Account Registration and Security
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials
- All activity that occurs under your Account
- Providing accurate and current information
Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized use of your Account.
5. User Responsibilities
You agree not to:
- Use the Services for unlawful, fraudulent, or abusive purposes
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any portion of the Services (except where prohibited by law)
- Interfere with or disrupt the Services or security features
- Upload malicious code or attempt unauthorized access
- Misrepresent your identity or attempt to access other users’ accounts
6. Connected Financial Accounts and Third Parties
The Services may allow you to connect third-party financial accounts through integrations.
You acknowledge that:
- Any third-party integrations may be provided by external providers
- Bright Learning Lab is not responsible for third-party services, data accuracy, outages, or failures
- You authorize Bright Learning Lab and its providers to access and process financial account information to provide Services you request
7. Fees and Subscriptions (If Applicable)
Pocket Financial may offer free and/or paid features.
If you subscribe to a paid plan:
- Fees will be disclosed at the time of purchase
- Billing and renewal terms will be presented to you before charging
- Purchases made through app stores are governed by the app store’s terms
Unless required by applicable law, fees are non-refundable.
8. Intellectual Property
The Services, including all software, design, logos, and materials, are owned by Bright Learning Lab or its licensors and are protected under applicable intellectual property laws.
You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable right to use the Services for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms.
9. User Content
If you submit content (e.g., notes, goals, messages), you retain ownership of that content.
You grant Bright Learning Lab a limited license to use, host, store, reproduce, and process that content solely to provide and improve the Services.
You represent that you have all rights required to submit the content.
10. Acceptable Use and Prohibited Conduct
Bright Learning Lab may suspend or terminate access if you:
- Violate these Terms
- Engage in harmful or abusive behavior
- Attempt to compromise the security or integrity of the Services
11. Privacy
Your use of the Services is subject to our Privacy Policy.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Services are provided “as is” and “as available”.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bright Learning Lab disclaims all warranties and conditions, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.
Bright Learning Lab does not guarantee that:
- The Services will be uninterrupted or error-free
- Financial data will be complete, accurate, or timely
- The Services will meet your requirements
13. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bright Learning Lab and its directors, officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, revenues, or data.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bright Learning Lab’s total liability for all claims relating to the Services will not exceed the greater of:
- CAD $100; or
- The amounts you paid to Bright Learning Lab for the Services in the 12 months prior to the event giving rise to the claim
Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations of liability; in such cases these limitations may not apply.
14. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Bright Learning Lab from any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:
- Your use of the Services
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of applicable law or third-party rights
15. Termination
You may stop using the Services at any time.
Bright Learning Lab may suspend or terminate your access to the Services at any time if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or if necessary to protect the Services, users, or Bright Learning Lab.
16. Changes to the Services and Terms
We may modify or discontinue the Services at any time.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted with an updated Effective Date, and may be communicated through the Services.
Your continued use of the Services after changes become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
17. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Nova Scotia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of laws principles.
You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Nova Scotia, Canada, unless otherwise required by applicable law.
18. General
- Entire Agreement: These Terms and the Privacy Policy form the entire agreement.
- Severability: If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
- No Waiver: Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
- Assignment: You may not assign these Terms without our prior consent.
